And I didn’t want another rusty metal shed on my hands in a few years. I once owned a small plastic shed. It’s still standing after nearly 20 years (now in my sister and brother-in-law’s yard). It’s served both me and now my sister and her husband well — but they’re ready to replace it. The plastic shed’s paneling is beginning to warp, allowing water inside the shed.

I didn’t know what to expect with the Tuff Shed installation team — but they, too, were a joy to work with.
In the extreme cold, the plastic can contract which will leave gaps for any snow or water to get in the shed too. Manufacturers are getting better with this, although some reviewers are still having issues.
While you could simply drop your shed on the ground, this may not be your best option.
Great informative article brittany. Took time to read but it is worth the time 🙂

Our shed is constructed with 2×4 roof rafters spaced 16″ o.c. with a 1/2″ plywood sheathing. The low quality shed uses the same 2×3 as are used on its walls, spaced 24″ o.c. with 1/2″ OSB on top. Over time, the roof of the low quality shed is much more likely to sag, especially in a high-moisture environment.
Our shed has 30-year architectural shingles. The low quality shed has 3-tab shingles that don’t look like they’re wearing well even while the shed sits on the lot. Our guess is that those shingles are not rated for installation over OSB and likely have a 15 year warranty, max.
However, the crew that came to install my shed is the same team that builds Tuff Sheds from scratch. (I know this because I spoke with the Tuff Shed crew who came to my home, and they told me they also personally build Tuff Sheds.)
